About the artist

Arthur Watts - 1924-1927

Arthur Watts studied at the Slade School of Fine Art. Later he travelled to Antwerp, Paris, Moscow and Madrid to further his studies. Watts was awarded the Distinguished Service Order in the First World War. He contributed illustrations to Punch, Pearson's Magazine, Pear's Annual, The Bystander and Radio Times in addition to illustrations for a number of books. Watts often drew views from an unusual overhead angle and his figures were sometimes somewhat elongated.

Arthur Watts (also known by the name Arthur George Watts), born 1883 in Chatham, Kent, died 1935. Poster designs for the Underground Group 1924-1927.
