The Olympic Legends map is a unique interpretation of the Underground Map. Each Underground line is dedicated to a Olympic sporting discipline or disciplines from basketball to track and field events – athletes who have won more than 5 gold medals are highlighted as podium stars. The map, however, also features other extraordinary athletes who may not have won an Olympic medal but are recognised for their abilities or in some cases, famous loses - athletes like Dorando Pietri, who won the 1908 Olympics marathon race, but was later disqualified as he was helped over the finishing line by a well meaning umpire! Look out for the sporting stars who have also featured in films – see if you can spot Harold Sakata, the weightlifting Olympic silver medallist who played Odd Job in the film Goldfinger.

The Underground Olympic Legends Map was designed by Alex Trickett David Brooks, who say on their design:
"We love sport, we love lists and we love London, so what better challenge than to select 361 of the greatest athletes the world has ever seen and to fit them on to our iconic tube map.
"There were heated debates and a few late changes of heart, but we are happy with the result: dozens of nations represented, all 2012 Olympic sports accounted for, and Ali and Phelps, two of the greatest Olympians of all time, guarding the Stratford gateways to the Games."
"These things always divide opinion, so we are happy to discuss (and defend!) any of our choices @alextrickett "
Alex Trickett was a sports journalist and International Editor for the BBC Sport website and David Brooks is a sports historian, journalist and author of "The All-Time World Cup".
